چکیده
images without USPIO (bottom) of a Sildenafil treated rat at four time points (from left to right): baseline, 24h post MCAO, 2 weeks and 4 weeks. A newly developed vessel (yellow arrow) around the edge of the ischemic core (dark area) shows up as a black spot in the SWI magnitude image two weeks after MCAO. It shows up as a short white line in the SWI phase images, (six-slice MIP with 1.5mm thickness). USPIO high resolution neurovascular imaging of rat middle cerebral artery occlusion stroke model

Investigate the effect of TRPV1 receptor antagonist (AMG9810) on stroke outcome in the permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion in male rat
Introduction: TRPV1 is a non-selective cation channel with high permeability to calcium ions, and is also involved in the development of neurogenic and inflammatory pain. The increase in intracellular calcium plays a role in worsening of stroke. In the present study we investigated the effect of (AMG9810) TRPV1 receptor antagonist on stroke outcome in the permanent middle cerebral artery occlus...
متن کاملMRI monitoring of neuroinflammation in mouse focal ischemia.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE A growing body of evidence suggests that inflammatory processes are involved in the pathophysiology of stroke. Phagocyte cells, involving resident microglia and infiltrating macrophages, secrete both protective and toxic molecules and thus represent a potential therapeutic target. The aim of the present study was to monitor phagocytic activity after focal cerebral ischemi...
متن کاملEffect of Combination Therapy Using Hypothermia and Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor in a Rat Transient Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion Model
Background: Stroke is the third leading cause of death. Hypothermia has been recognized as an effective method in reducing brain injury. In this study, we assessed the effects of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) as a neuroprotective agent and mild hypothermia on mortality, behavioral function, infarct volume, and brain edema in Wistar rats. Methods: Forty male rats were used in fiv...
متن کاملProtective Effect of Delayed Ischemic Postconditioning on Embolic Stroke Complications in Female Rat
Background & Aims: Ischemic postconditioning, conducted by a series of brief occlusion and release of the bilateral common carotid arteries, has neuroprotective properties in permanent or transient models of middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion but its delayed neuroprotective effects in the embolic model of stroke, especially in female rat, have not yet been reported and were investigated ...
متن کاملEarly-stage investigations of ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide-induced signal change after permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion in mice.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE MR signal changes after intravenous ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide (USPIO) injection are related to inflammatory cells at the subacute stages after focal cerebral injury. However, at the early stages, the interpretation of USPIO-related MR signal alterations remains controversial. Here, we compared MR signal changes after intravenous USPIO injection with the hist...
